AIPAD New York Show Inspirational to this Photographer!

The AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) Photography Show in New York is inspirational, as always! More than 70 galleries are exhibiting a wide range of museum-quality work. If you are especially interested in nature photography, as I am, then you might be pleased by some of the images shown by the Alan Klotz Gallery and Nailya Alexander Gallery, both in New York, as well as the Peter Fetterman Gallery of Santa Monica, California.

These are just a very few highlights from an exceptional show! If you are in the New York area this weekend, try to get to this show to see for yourself!
(AIPAD Photography Show, Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street, March 18-21)

Orchids to Enjoy and Photograph

ORCHID SHOW! Cuba is in bloom inside the conservatory at New York Botanical Garden nybg.org. The Orchid Show: Cuba in Flower exhibit features thousands of orchids set among replicas of some of Cuba’s buildings and statues; it also features palm groves in a space modeled after one of that country’s treasured botanical gardens. So enjoyable--especially in the middle of winter!

If you want to photograph the orchids, you need to know that tripods are not allowed in the conservatory, so use an image-stabilized lens if possible. Cameras can be used only in designated parts of the conservatory. If you have a macro lens, think about taking some intimate shots of these amazing flowers--like the one I'm showing here, which I've titled Mango Flurry. See more images on my website www.PatriciaGarbariniPhotography.com.

New York Botanical Garden, Bronx River Pkwy at Fordham Rd, Bronx (718-817-8700, visit nybg.org for hours). Feb 27–Apr 11.

Photographers Helping Haiti--Success!

Good news! I'm happy to report that the ASMP photographers from New York City, myself included, who donated prints to be sold for $100 each at The VERGE ART FAIR on March 4-7 to benefit Doctors Without Borders in Haiti succeeded in raising $4,000!
